Female Sprint Technique - Jones, White, Collins, Felix

On the IAAF Forums I saw PJ post a series of action photos of athletes through their sprint phases, I know their is a word for these photos and i can’t remember it!!! :frowning:

They have a good selection on the site PJ used a hyperlink from and i thought it would be interesting to see what people’s comments where on each athletes respective techniques. Admittedly they are taken from shots from 2002 but I doubt that many technical changes would have taken place for the more senior women, Felix may be another story.

Also it allows forum users who are unfamilar with these athletes to get a better look at them and the insights of a some of the more experienced forum users.

Allyson Felix - 200m Mt SAC Relays 2002

I was looking over White’s mechanics earlier and for some reason she sit back after 60 meters.

She has amazing turnover w/ each step.

She’s really applying force into the ground w/ each step after 30m.

One must understand Kellie was talented from the jump date waaay back to 1999.

She’s using her gifts I know that.

I say she’ll go 10.92 this year.

I would like to know her major strengths.

At times she shows major strength levels and then she’ll show some super power levels.

So anyone here have some insight on her training?

Kenny Mac~~

From what i saw while at Chabot, she does everything fast, fast fast and faster. Remi has her and Chrystie run (one workout i saw) 3x200’s chasing a guy. they also did (not on same day) isometric exercises coming out of blocks with Remi hanging on for dear life. She would only do the arm motion, and lunge out, she did it several times. I will see if I can dig up some more…

So working on her first step out of the blocks or a series or “bounds” out of the blocks resisted???

There are a heap of awesome pics from the 2003 Mt SAC Relays up at http://www.trackandfieldphoto.com with some good shots of sprints. Talk is that Trevor Graham is having Latasha Colander-Richardson work on 100/200m this season and she does look like she’s put on a fair bit of muscle to be able to do it. Reports from the meet also say that Chyrste Gaines got even with Latasha at 60m but Latasha was able to hold on from the powerful Gaines.

she just did one step out. no bounds
