Devers and Johnson double up in Fayetteville
Thursday 12 February 2004

Fayetteville, USA - World Indoor hurdling champions Gail Devers and Allen Johnson will double up at the Tyson Foods Invitational in Fayetteville this Saturday (14 Feb).

The American pair will contest their specialist indoor event, the 60 metres hurdles, and they will each also run the flat 60m.

Devers and Johnson are the reigning World Indoor sprint hurdles champions, and the fastest performers of 2004 with 60m hurdles times of 7.76 and 7.43.

Fayetteville which is the third stop on the USA’s Track and Field Indoor Golden Spike Tour, will see Devers start as favourite in both her races.

As being twice Olympic 100 metres gold medallist, Devers also won the 60m flat dash at the 1993 and 1997 World Indoor championships.

Johnson is a less accomplished flat sprinter, though he has a very credible 60m personal best of 6.62 (1998) and ran 6.68 last winter.
