Australian police are searching for nine Commonwealth Games competitors who have gone missing.
Seven members of Sierra Leone’s team have disappeared, along with two other athletes, one from Tanzania and one from Bangladesh.
Police say the Sierra Leone athletes were reported missing by team management after three competitors in a relay race failed to attend the event.
Another three members of Sierra Leone athletics team and a weightlifter have also disappeared.
Police are still looking for a Tanzanian boxer and Bangladeshi runner last seen at the Games village on Monday.
There are concerns for their welfare.
The Victorian police commissioner, Christine Nixon, says there is no evidence to suggest the men planned to stay in Australia.
At least 25 athletes disappeared during the last Commonwealth Games in Manchester, most were from Sierra Leone.

First thing I thought of was them trying to get away–maybe not the case here though. One of the Olympic medalists from Athens (in the sprints) did just this while competing in soccer as a junior–seems to be rather common.
