I like the 1 set, 8-10 reps scheme, and under one hour thing. One of my former teammates also told me about this and I looked it up to see if it works. I do have to agree about the holding back and losing energy/focus after one hour as well.
How do you see this as?

Not good for sports training, not a fan for anyone using it really. Can you use it? Yes. Should you use it? No.
There is an article on the main homepage about this type of stuff. 1 heavy set going to failure total body, not a good idea unless you like being sore for days and ruining your track sessions.
