Caffeine

I know that caffeine’s place in our supplement regime is still hotly debated.

My question is, does 1 tbsp of instant coffee 3-4 days per week have a significantly adverse effect on the body. It seems moderate to me but that’s compared to my “coffee-junky” colleagues.

The reason I ask is that one scoop w/ 3 ice cubes and 2 scoops of Grow! is awesome pre-workout or for anytime early enough in the day. I don’t use it as a crutch, just for flavor, variety and a boost here and there.

The protein should to control the cortisol release (I believe they cover this in Lowery’s most recent t-nation article), so if it works for you great.

The body will habituate to caffeine both from a lipolytic (fat burning) and CNS stimulant standpoint.

The mechanism involves adenosine receptors downregulation.

The best way to keep from habituating to caffeine is to only consume it once every 3 or 4 days. That way it will have the most bang.
