Ato Boldon Stix To Olympic 200

NEW YORK, Feb 7 (AFP) - Trinidad sprinter Ato Boldonwill focus his efforts this Olympic season on the 200mand not attempt a 100m-200m double in Athens which hebelieves cost him in Sydney four years ago.
I'll definitely not double at the Games,'' Boldonsaid this weekend at the Millrose Games indoor meeting.It cost me in Sydney.’’
Boldon said his attempt at the 100m, won by AmricanMaurice Greene in Sydney, hurt him in the 200m.
I should have (won the 200m) in Sydney, but it'sdifficult when you spend four rounds chasing Maurice,''said Boldon, a former 200m world champion. I’ll focus more on 200. I’ll still run a lot of100s, but I’m going to be a 200 runner who runs 100.’’
Boldon, 30, said he was looking forward eagerly to the2004 campaign.
It's for years like this that I live for,'' saidBoldon, who is aiming for a fourth Olympic appearanceafter competing in Barcelona in 1992 at the age of 18, as well as in Atlanta and Sydney. He said he is pleased with his form, after an autoaccident in 2002 and back problems in 2003 hindered hisefforts. He returned to training with HSI training partnerGreene in November. Last year, I was hurt twice. This year, noproblem,’’ he said. The training is going very well.I'm lifting a lot of weight.'' Boldon said he planned to skip indoor competition andrace for the first time at the Mt. SAC relays inCalifornia. That’s what I usually do,’’ he said.
