Million$ support for Jamaica’s Junior Athletics Programme

Kingston: LIME, the Caribbean’s leading telecommunications company, today announced a three-year, $21 Million dollar sponsorship package for the Junior Athletics Programme of the Jamaica Amateur Athletic Association (JAAA).
The sponsorship covers:

The annual National Junior Championships
-
The annual CARIFTA Trials and support for the team going to the CARIFTA Games
-
Support for the National Team participating in the Junior CAC Championships
-
The trials for the Junior Pan Am Games and support for the team
-
Support for the National Team going to the IAAF World Youth Championships and the IAAF World Junior Championships
-
Support for seven annual JAAA Development Meets
In making the announcement today, LIME Jamaica’s Chairman, Chris Dehring said: “With this sponsorship LIME has established itself as one of the leading corporate supporters of Track and Field in the Caribbean as we are also a major sponsor of Boys and Girls Champs and the Presenting sponsors of the 2010 CARIFTA Games.”
“Track and Field is a passion for Jamaicans of all ages. Our company wants to do all that it can to provide the opportunities and the platforms for our young athletes to be able to continue the enviable record that Jamaica has established internationally. We believe that this sponsorship will go a long way in securing Jamaica’s future in the sport,” he added.
In welcoming the sponsorship, Howard Aris, President of the JAA said: “No one can question Jamaica’s pedigree in Track and Field, but sometimes it is difficult to properly fund our youth development programmes. Now through LIME’s Sponsorship, the JAAA will be able to improve and increase the number of opportunities for talented young athletes wishing to get more involved in track and field. Additionally, it will enable the JAAA to better serve a greater number of young athletes to improve on their potential whilst participating in the development programmes.”
In addition to the $21-million in cash LIME, which will also be the official communications sponsor of Jamaica Youth Track and Field, will provide the following services to the JAAA:

Broadband for the JAAA offices

A PBX system to manage the JAAA’s incoming and outgoing calls

Mobile phone services –for example Closed User Groups (CUG)

Mobile Internet services for the Association’s officers when they are on the go.
