Looked like Andrew Robertson had the lead there for a while. Looks like a strong competitor for the 60.
easy pay day for gatlin. his stride length has definitely shortened compared to years ago. has his coach worked on decreasing it or what
Im guessing he realizes that he was over striding before and now with the shorter stride he can apply power to the track more often. Dennis was never a long strider himself.
The shortened stride length is a result of Mann influence. Ralph’s daughter lives in Orlando, so he ends up spending a fair bit of time with Dennis’s and Lance’s groups.
Do you know if Ralph Mann does consultations with non elite level sprinters? If so, what is the cost involved?
I didn’t realise gatlin was being coached by Mitchell. anyone know any inside training info
Not sure. All I know is apparently Mann has done some work with Gatlin, this is from 2013:

Mann is exclusively contracted to USATF, and works with numerous USATF pro coaches. You can contact him for individual stuff but expect to pay large if he will even do it.
I asked Ralph about Gatlin at the IAAF Level 5 course, he said they were working on his overstriding and thought he had 0.01 in him if they sorted it. He got great conditions in Doha and got 0.03- basically, I would bet against Gatlin going sub 9.70 ever.
gay looks pretty good. powell I thought would have pushed gatlin more but gatlin seems to be ona different level at the moment. im predicting bolt will pull out of the WC’s or call the season off
I agree, it’s hard to see him putting himself out there and risking getting beat by Gatlin. Maybe he has more pride than we think though!
If bolt is smart he fakes an injury and gets with blake and trains for the olympics.
Asafa looks to me like he is playing possum. Like degrasse did bromel in the ncaa semi
Bolt doesn’t need to fake an injury. He has a real one, which is why he was in Germany visiting you know who. Asafa reminds me of those old “psychology” threads about Asafa “panicking” that drove Charlie straight up the wall. Looks like he didn’t really get his kind of start and then shut it down a bit around 50-60 when he knew he couldn’t win. Asafa had run 9.84 and 9.81 and was off from that, and should have known it wasn’t going to beat Gatlin anyway. They switched the 200 and 100 times due to wind, so there’s a bunch of things that could have bugged him, including maybe jet lag.
Guess we are going to find out in six weeks or so.
You don’t have to wait 6 weeks. Bolt has signed for London. I guess if he bails you’ll have to wait the full 6 weeks.
True, but the big prize is in six weeks.
As it stands at the moment Gaitlin is a big favourite to win the World Champs, Bolt will miss the final, and that leaves Gay, Powell, and ? to fight for medals.
London, I think will tell us whether Bolt will go to China or not.
