2011 WORLDS: And The Bid Cities Are . . .

Nine countries show 2011 interest

IAAF president Diack is delighted so many countries are interested
Nine countries have expressed an interest in hosting the 2011 World Athletics Championships.
Brisbane in Australia, Split in Croatia, Daegu in South Korea, Casablanca in Morocco and Moscow in Russia are all in the frame.

Spain has offered both Madrid and Valencia, while Sweden, the UAE and the USA have not specified cities.

The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) will name the venue in early 2007.

“I am delighted to see such strong interest from so many different parts of the world,” said IAAF president Lamine Diack.
